When Amy Chua’s book Battle of Hymn of the tiger mom was published in the Wall Street Journal and released to the public, mothers around the world became furious and made comments towards Amy Chua. In this essay, my research I will tell you what I thought about Amy Chua’s parenting style and the way mom’s around the world reacted. Amy Chua a Chinese tiger mom who thinks that it is right to force her kids to go what she wants them to do. She sat there with her daughter one night forcing her to learn this piano lesson and her daughter lulu asks her “can I go to the

bathroom?” and Amy said “no!”. This is abuse. Amy criticizing her children when they come home with a “b” and if they don’t raise that grade they have a meeting with a principal and tell them to make the class harder. Amy Chua said “to get good at anything you have to work, and children on their own never want to work, which is why it is crucial to override their preferences.”
Western mom’s are more laid back and chill about thing they let their kids go to sleepovers, watch television, hangout with their friends and they can complain about school. Western parents are happy with a “C” and a “b” they praise their child. They just want their child to be happy and try their best. Amy Chua says “Western parents can only ask their kids to try their best.”
In defense of the guilty by Ayelet Waldman she explains this ”not because we forced her to drill and practice and repeat, not because we dragged her kicking and screaming, or denied her food, or kept her from using the bathroom, but because she forced herself.” She’s saying that all kids don’t need to be forced to do what you want them to do if you start them out young and they will figure it out on their own. This little girl Rosie who is only 5 years old and diagnosed with dyslexia taught herself how to read her mom had given up this shows that she was able to accomplish it on her own.
Amy Chua is a wimp by David Brooks.” Her kids can’t possibly be happy or truly creative”. What I think David Brooks means is that they are going through torture and can’t complain about it. Sophia and lulu need to be able to socialize with friends and be active in school plays. Not! Be rushing home to go straight to the homework table. If Sophia and lulu have not failed in their life what are they going to do when they fail when they get older? There mommy wont be around to help. There’s no way that Sophia and lulu are happy with this type of lifestyle that Amy their mother is putting them through.
Amy Chua cares and loves about her kids a lot. She’s always is on top of her kids forcing them to play the piano and do their homework. But this shows that she dedicates all of her time to her kids to be successful I mean both of her daughters made it into Harvard that proves something I don’t even know how she’s a professor.
Amy Chua is a menace she’s gone to far forcing her daughter to sit there to learn the piano lesson, do their homework right after school. This is abuse! Chua needs to let her daughters make their own choices on what activity they would like to play.
Amy Chua is a name I never want to hear again others think she is crazy and smart. In my opinion I think Chua is abusing her children and need to let her kids make their own choices. It’s the parents job to raise their children with academics, but its also important for your kids to be happy with what they choose to do with their activities if you don’t let your kids fail once in their childhood what are they going to do when they fail later on in life.
The Medusa and the Snail Human mistakes aren’t something that occur randomly, they happen every day of our lives. In this passage The Medusa and the Snail By Lewis Thomas. He explains that if you don’t pay attention and focus on something else you can make a mistake and find something that can help the future. Alexander Fleming had discovered penicillin in 1929 and kept the mold in a Petri dish that also had stapholoccis in it. Alexander Fleming actually realized something new an antibiotic he had never seen before this was a mistake he found it by not cleaning his dishes. Just like Lewis Thomas said “that mistakes lead to something better in the future.”

Failure happens every day whether you lied to your parents or you cheated on a test. Well the failure that I can remember was when I lied to my parents about my grades in the 6th grade it was the step up from 5th and I wasn’t ready. I learned that it’s good to do your work and not fall behind so I never did any of these things again and I got over a 3.5gpa all through middle school. Human mistakes are part of being human they teach how to move on in life and do bigger and greater things. Without the error we would never move forward. Mistakes are what lead to success and that’s what Alexander Fleming achieved with penicillin.

Dear Ventura county star and Readers: Students around the world cheat, lie and steal every day. Do I think this is right? No! Students should not be lying, Stealing or cheating its disrespectful to adults and most of all to themselves. In my opinion cheating is bad and students should not cheat. It’s a tragedy that Mrs. Pelton resigned from her teaching job because she caught her students for cheating and the school board told her to go easyThe School board in Piper, Kansas should not be allowed to have a say in how easy Mrs. Pelton should have to be on her students. If the principal and superintendant agree with her that the students were cheating then it should be all up to Mrs. Pelton. The students should also know the consequences of cheating the first day they have that class. I’m glad that Mrs. Pelton resigned from her job there’s no reason school of ficials should get mad for a teacher being a little strict. Michael Josephson said “That this kind of thing is happening everyday around the country, where people with integrity are not being supported by their organization.” This is what is happening to Mrs. Pelton she was failing her kids because of plagiarism and the principal agreed but the school board told her to go easier on the kids.Lying, cheating and stealing is shunned upon by the community. Parents should not let their kids do these acts in public it’s disrespectful and makes them look bad. Do you think that Mrs. pelton did the right thing by resigning from her job because the school board told her to go easy?

Margaret Meade Margaret Meade once said “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” What I think she is saying is this “Never doubt that a small group of people can change the world. In this essay I am going to explain how change can bring both good and bad. September 11, 2001. Four commercial airplanes were hijacked by 22 terrorist lead by Osama bin laden. All four planes had targets and all the terrorist knew what they were doing this was a suicide mission. Two planes hit the twin towers, one hit the pentagon and flight 93 crashed in a open field in Pennsylvania, three thousand were killed and hundreds of millions were terrorized. can change the world in a bad way. Flight 93 an airplane hijacked by 4 out of 22 terrorist were and were heading for the white house. Forty-four passengers on board sitting In their seats and following directions had all called the families and heard that the terrorist didn’t want anything they are on a suicide mission. Passengers were talking to each other and agreed to try and take over the plane. The plane ended up crashing in a field in central Pennsylvania. This shows a good change “committed citizens” agreed with each other to sacrifice their lives to save thousands. Thirteen members in 2010, seven members from my mom’s work and 6 of my friends, put together a team for relay for life and walked around neighborhoods, shopping centers, the mall, and even some beaches asking people to sponsor us so that we could raise money to help citizens around the world dying of cancer.

Relay for life started out as a small group of people and has turned into something that has made a great change in someone’s life. This shows that Margaret Meade’s quote is right “Small groups can make a big change.” Do small groups change things for the better or the worse? Can they make small but big changes. Margaret Meade claims that it is easy to make a change for the better but in my eyes you cants always change things for the better some are for the worse.
Medea Medea, the old Greek play by Euripides, is based on a divorce and murder! She claimed to love her children but she killed them to get back at her husband who had left her for a younger woman. This is not right! Murder is murder even 2,400 years ago. Jason did nothing to harm his children he said that it was for the better not the worse but Medea didn’t understand and killed their two children so Jason isn’t the victim of this story, movie and play. Medea was just heartbroken for what Jason did to her he left her with both kids and acts like they will live happy even though they were banished. Jason is the victim for breaking a promise with Medea it’s not right to leave someone you promised to live with the rest of your life. Jason shouldn’t have left his kids and for that Medea thought that she should kill them. It wasn’t right on Jason’s part to leave his family for a younger and pretty princess. Jason a loving husband to his kids and a little bit to his wife that he left for a princess. Medea heartbroken for what he had done kills there two kids. Many say that it is Jason’s fault for their murder not Medea’s but it was Medea’s hands who killed them Jason had nothing to do with that. I think that Medea was over reacting to this situation and shouldn’t have killed her children but she claims to love them. If Medea really loved her kids why did she kill them?
